Choosing which notifications count
One switch per kind of notification, set per person, deciding what the bell's number counts — and what a switched-off kind still does.

The bell in the top bar carries fourteen kinds of event, from a customer approving work to a parts order landing at the counter. Not all fourteen are yours to care about, and the number beside the bell is only useful if it counts things you would act on. So each kind has a switch, and the switches belong to you rather than to the shop.
Setting them
Step 1: Open the bell and choose Notification settings
Open the bell in the top bar, then choose Notification settings in its footer. That door lands on the Notifications card of Your profile. No permission is involved beyond being signed in — this is your own screen, not a shop setting.
Step 2: Turn off the kinds you do not want counted
One box per kind, under Badge the bell for these. Everything is on until you say otherwise. You are only shown the kinds you could be told about at all: a technician has no Disputes switch, because a chargeback row would never be drawn for them.
Step 3: Press Save notifications
One save for the whole card, not one per switch. The bell's number changes on the next screen you open, and the choice follows you to whichever machine you sign in on.
What a switched-off kind still does
It still arrives. The row appears in the bell's drawer and on Notifications exactly as it always did, marked Muted, with no unread dot. All that changes is the number: the bell stops counting it.
Muted rows also sit below the rows that still count, rather than in date order among them, and they never push a counted row out of the drawer's twelve. So switching off bookings at a shop that takes nine a morning genuinely gives that space back to the approvals and the payments — and the bookings are still there, at the foot of the list, if you go looking.
