Compact, Comfortable and Bay

How big everything is is a setting, and it belongs to you rather than to the shop. An owner scanning forty rows on a 27-inch monitor and a technician holding a tablet under a car are about a foot and a half apart from their screens. That is not a preference, it is a distance, and one size cannot serve both.

Changing it

   Step 1: Open Your account

   The person button at the top right of every screen. It is there for everybody, whatever your role — which is the point, because the person Bay was built for is the one who cannot open shop settings.

   Step 2: Use Bay mode for the quick change

   The person menu has a Bay mode switch. It changes theme and density together — Night bay plus Bay density — and saves immediately. That is the one-tap answer at a cart; it is not the place to choose Compact or change contrast.

   Step 3: Open Appearance for the four separate choices

   Appearance in the person menu opens the card on AppearanceYour profile. Choose Theme, Density, Contrast and Text size, then press Save appearance. The page needs no permission beyond being signed in. The rail's Settings door also lands here for roles that do not manage the shop.

The setting follows you, not the machine. It lives on your membership of this shop, so signing in on the cart tablet, the counter PC or your phone gives you the same size. If you belong to two shops, each one has its own setting.

Contrast and text size are separate on purpose

High contrast deepens ink and borders without forcing a light or dark theme, so it works with all three theme choices. Text size has Small, Default, Large and Largest. It moves type without changing the button and row sizes supplied by density — a person who needs larger words on a compact desktop does not have to turn the whole layout into Bay.

What each one does

Compact

13px body text, 32px rows, 36px targets. For an owner on a big monitor who wants more of the board on screen at once. The technician touch floor does not compact with the rest — anything a tech presses with gloves on stays at 48px.

Comfortable

14px body text, 40px rows, 44px targets. The default, and the right answer at the front counter.

Bay

14px body text and 40px rows — the same as Comfortable — with every target 56px and more room around each card. Built for a tablet on a cart, standing up, with gloves on.

Bay is not a font-size slider, and it is not a font-size setting at all. It changes what you can hit, not what you can read: the type and the row heights stay exactly where Comfortable has them, every touch target goes to 56 pixels, and the spacing around cards opens up. If you want bigger words, that is the separate text-size control on the same menu. In Bay, nothing a technician touches on the board, the order, an inspection or the time clock is under 56 pixels — including the four inspection rating buttons OK, Soon, Now and N/A, which used to be 26 pixels in every density and are the reason this work happened.

A few controls are 56 pixels whatever density you are in, because a mis-tap on one of them costs a payroll correction or a record that cannot be taken back. On Time they are Clock in, Clock out and Move. On My day they are Clock out, Start job and Switch to this job. On a technician's repair order it is Save findings, and on a DVI it is Complete inspection with the Yes, complete and send that confirms it.

Theme, while you are there

Three choices: System follows whatever the computer is set to, Light is the default for a new preference, and the dark one is called Night bay. Picking Light or Night bay outranks the machine from then on. The nav rail stays dark in both themes on purpose.
